Tuckahoe students are going on Virtual Reality voyages so real they require permission slips! As a part of Tuckahoe’s STEAM initiative and with the help of Model Schools, 3D goggles, and Tuckahoe technology teacher, Jessica Ovanessian, Tuckahoe’s librarian, Laurie Verdeschi, has led students on Google Expeditions through sites such as the Museum of Natural History, Statue of Liberty, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Park. In addition, students explored microscopic landscapes to learn about cells and took a tour of the solar system with stops at Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury. Students have concluded that Google Expeditions are very cool and teachers are looking forward to using this new tool to bring many other subjects to (virtual) life.
