Emma Cervone, 8th grade graduate of Tuckahoe Common School District in Southampton, was 1 of more than 30 students who received medals of honor at The Suffolk County Legislature’s Distinguished Youth Award ceremony on Wednesday, July 17th, 2019. The award promotes and recognizes achievement, initiative and volunteer service. As a recipient of the gold award, the highest level of achievement in the program, Emma worked with an adviser and local officials to complete goals in volunteer service, personal development, physical fitness challenges as well as exploration of Suffolk County Parks totaling more than 400 hours of service over the course of 1 year. These four areas challenged her to become active in her community and surroundings while learning skills to help achieve goals that will be used throughout her life!
